Massage is a form of structured touch. The hand are used to glide over the skin and apply pressure to the underline muscles in a series of movements that involve variously stroking, rubbing, kneading and pressing. It can either be soothing or stimulating, and when carried out by a professional in conjunction with a focus on energy, it can affect the body, mind, spirit and emotion, massage is an ancient, revered art that has been practiced for centuries. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, all used massage for healing and health as well as pleasure. In India , China and Japan and other countries in the orient, massage form an integral parts of whole system of medicine, while reference to massage in china date as far back as between two to three thousand years BC.
